Professional
practice:
A resident of Bainbridge Island, Don Marsh has an extensive background
in international banking, investment and trade. With J.P. Morgan
& Co. for nineteen years, of which six were in Tokyo, he was
responsible for developing much of the bank’s business in
East Asia and was instrumental in the 1969 establishment of Morgan’s
Tokyo branch, which opened the doors for the modern wave of new
foreign financial institutions in Japan. Later with Rainier National
Bank in Seattle, he headed its international division.
Following
his banking career Marsh directed the international activities
of Burlington Northern Inc., including developing new business
opportunities overseas for that diversified transportation and
natural resources enterprise. In 1986 - 1989 he served in Tokyo
as President of Burlington Northern International Services Inc.
In addition
to his advisory activities, Marsh has served as Asia Program Director
and moderated seminars for the Aspen Institute. He currently serves
on the Board of Directors of the Washington Council on Economic
Education and is on the adjunct faculty of the University of Washington
where he teaches international business and economics. Marsh writes,
speaks and moderates seminars on international business and economic
relations.

Education:
Marsh has a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan where
he also did graduate work in international economics. He has been
a guest lecturer at universities in the United States and Japan. |
